This is a small guide to make themes for iClassic 1.5. It’s really easy, so you should give it a shot!

Please note that theming ability will be greatly improved in 2.0, it will be possible to move and change the size of screen and controls, right now themes are limited to just making some images.

Themes are folders located in /var/mobile/Library/iClassic/Themes.

The name of the theme will be the name of the folder.

This is the list of images that you can theme this way (* means it’s required, if it’s not there, the theme will not be shown in the theme list):

• Background.png*
• Shadow.png
• Default.png
• Thumbnail.png

Here’s a brief explanation on each image:

Background:

Size: 320 x 480 px
The background is the main image of the theme, and it’s the image that will be rendered behind everything else. It’s the body of the player.

Here’s a PSD you can use as a template for your themes. Ideally, you should leave the screen as it is:

Shadow:

Size: 200 x 200

This is the image that is shown when one of the buttons is pressed or held. It’s the size of the control, and it gets rendered right above it. Please note that the same image is used 4 times, one for the top button, one for the right button, one for the left button, and one for the bottom button, and it’s just rotated.

Default:

Size: 320 x 480 px

This is the image that will become the splash screen of the app when it’s launched. It should be, in essence, the same as the background, but since it will only be shown while loading, it can have some loading text or a logo on the screen.
If it doesn’t exist, the Background.png will be used.

Thumbnail:

Size: 226 x 331

This is the image that will be loaded as a preview in the theme selection screen. It’s a smaller image to save memory and load it faster.
If it doesn’t exist, the Default.png will be used, and if that doesn’t exist, the background will be used.
